Janet and I headed into London this past Saturday to visit the British Museum. Buses leave every ten minutes from Oxford which head to London, so we hopped on one of those in the morning. It takes you right to Victoria Station, a convenient stop for trains and the tube. I bought an oyster card, which is like the DC Metro's Smart Trip card, since I figured I'd be coming here often enough.
The British Museum is huge! Right now, the Terracotta Army is on display from China, so thats attracted hoards of people to the museum. We headed straight for the Egypt section of the museum, and all of a sudden, BAM, right when you walk in, there is the Rosetta Stone! It is truly stunning. I couldn't believe it at first, then I got really giddy. The amount of artifacts the museum has from Egypt is overwhelming. Wrapping your mind around this ancient culture is difficult, thrilling, and fascinating. It was totally worth the 22 pounds I paid to get to London.
